How to find Niche for Your Blog to Make Money
How to find Niche for Your Blog to Make Money

Finding a Niche can be hard sometimes, specially if you want to make money from your blog.

To choose a Niche, You have two options:

1- Write about what you know and passionate about.

2- Write about a Niche that will make money.

Each option of them has a positive and a negative side.

It’s more fun to follow your passion, you will be ready to write hundreds or articles about the things that you love.

But what if no one is interesting in your Niche ?

It’s good to write about something that will make money and attract the highest paying Ads, but it’s difficult to write about what you don't know, and it’s risky at the same time because the visitors will know that you are misleading them or don’t know what are you talking about, and they will lose trust in you, this is a nightmare for any Blogger.

The Best Technique to find a Niche that generate traffic to your blog and make money

It's Not a Secret Formula But it's a Logical One

1- The Niche should be a subject that you love and have experience about it, or a subject that you don't have a problem writing about it and ready to learn about it.

To guarantee that you will be able to write daily or at least post one post every two or three days, search engines are in love with the sites that have fresh content.

To guarantee that your visitor will be a follower, you will have their trust and they will know that you know what are you talking about, this will give you a free marketing tool when they share your posts or recommend it to their friends and followers.

2 -Many internet users are interested in the Niche.

To guarantee a higher chance in driving traffic to your blog.

3- Write a unique articles, find a niche that has fewer competitors.

Fewer competitors means higher chance to appear in search results.

Don't write about Finance if you don't know what is Finance, Don't write about Aliens because you believe in them and don't write about Cooking because you think that everyone will be interested in it.

The First Step: Make a list.

Write the niches that you have some information about or niches that seems easy for you to learn. Then try to find a specific niche, a niche down some more. If you choose cooking, then remember that the internet is full of blogs about cooking, it's better to choose a sub category, something like Indonesian food or Vegan food or maybe cocktails. So you will have fewer competitors.

If you can't find any idea, then do some "random words brainstorming" by writing any random words, then think of as many things as you can that are associated with the random words you have write them down.

Ask What is its function? What are its aesthetics? How is it used? What metaphors can be associated with it? What is the opposite of your word?

Here is a list of some of the most famous categories and sub categories:

Business – Career, Industrial, Law, Marketing, Office, Professional Services, Work from Home

Culture & Arts – Books, Collectibles, Design, Fine Art, History, Illustrations, Science, Travel, TV & Film

Current Events – Celebrity Gossip, Entertainment, Humor, Movie, Music, Political

Family – Baby, Education, Faith, Marriage, Mommy, Motherhood, Parenting, Pets, Relationships, Religion, Toys & Games, University, Wedding

Food & Drink – Cocktails, Cooking, Event Planning, Parties, Wine

Health & Fitness – Diet, Exercise, Medical, Mental Health, Weight Loss, Wellness

Home & Garden – Crafts, Decor, DIY, Gardening, Home Improvement, Homemaking, Interiors, Natural Living, Outdoors

Men – Cars, Fashion, Hunting, Sports

Money – Budgeting, Economics, Frugal Living, Personal Finance, Real Estate

Self Help – Astrology, Encouragement, Inspirational, Life Hacks

Style, Fashion & Beauty

Technology – Camera & Photo, Cell Phones, Computers, Electronics, Gaming, Photography, Software, Videos.

Remember that your niche shouldn’t fall always under one category, you can have a niche that contains more than one category; Something like: work from home ideas for Mommy, pet’s food, Medical health for baby, Bedrooms for teenager, books that are about relationships.

Try to find more specified Niches using Google search, Here is a  short tutorial on How to use Google Search to find more specified Niches and Keywords.

Take a break then read your list, Now you may think that there are many websites that give information about all this niches.

What you think may be right or may be wrong, we have to be sure first !

The second Step: Sort your list.

Use your niches as a search query in Google search, when you search for any search query in Google you will see in the search result page the estimated number of results. Write this numbers in your list, Then sort your niches according to this Numbers.

Now your list is sorted according to the competition.

The Third Step : Google your Niches list to get more information.
In search result page click on the first 5 links for each search query, they are the best sites in this Niche and they may be your competitors if you decide to choose this Niche.

Realize in each site the following: What is the site about, The design of the site, The speed of the site, The colors and the fonts, The categories and the labels, Read one or two articles.

Try to figure out if this sites already covered the whole subject or not, Make a note about what did you like in their website and what you dislike, you will use this information later.

Ask yourself some question
What is the information that doesn’t exist in the website and i can write about ?

Can I do a research and rewrite all their articles in a better way ?

What is the information that i can provide to make the visitors visit my site ?

Do the same with all the niches in your list.

Now you are more organized, You have more details about the competitors in your niches list.

The Fourth Step : What are the people searching for ?

For Example : Your Niches list contains Indonesian Food and Vegan Food, You have information about both of them and ready to learn more about both of them but when you searched in Google you found the following results :

In Google search results there are 223,000,000 pages about Indonesian food and there are 494,000,000 pages about Vegan food.

You may think that Indonesian Food is better because it has fewer competitors than Vegan Food, this is true but this numbers doesn’t tell us what are the people searching for ? What if no one is searching for Indonesian food and everyone is searching for Vegan food ?

Why you have to choose a blog niche to earn money online.

Most of the bloggers earn their money by joining advertising and/or affiliate programs such as Google Adsence, Amazon affiliate.

This advertising programs will pay for you per click, which means that you will earn money once a visitor click on their Ads on your blog, while the affiliate programs will pay for you once the visitor visit their site a made a purchase.

This means : If you want to earn money from your blog using Google Adsense or any other program, then you will need more clicks from your blog visitors.

In this post we will know how the niche can effect your blog traffic, which may effect your income as well.

To get more clicks, you have to get more visitors to your blog first.

More visitors = More clicks = More money.

The key to success here is the traffic, the internet is full of many blogs, sites and your small blog is one of them.

Before dreaming of being rich, i want you to try to find an answer for the following questions:

Why the users will be interested in visiting my blog?

What is the service, information that they can have in my blog?

Why they will want to visit my blog again and again ?

Is my blog unique or just a copy and paste from others ?

The answer for all this questions are “The content” , if your blog has a great content then you will have more visitors, they will be interested in reading your new articles, they will suggest it to their friends.

But if your blog doesn’t have a good content, then you have to rethink about it again.

It seems that the content is the most important thing to search engines, Google search results prefer the websites that are specified in one or two categories.

The normal user who is trying to find an answer to his question on internet will click on the link that has the detailed answer. You will visit IMDP or Rotten Tomatoes website if you want to know about movies, the reason is you KNOW that this site is about movies.

Some bloggers claim that you can make money without being specific in one niche, their strategy is : "it's good to write about everything in your blog so you will have different audiences"

But I think this is not a realistic strategy for bloggers because:

Because you are working on your blog alone, you will not be able to cover more than one subject from A to Z.

In fact writing about one niche takes longer time that what you might think, writing about two niches will make you more stressed or your blog will lack information.

Logically, a website like NBA website will provide more information, Videos, Pictures about NBA, and this is not compared to News websites like CNN that will include NBA as a sub category in the sports category. And i guess NBA fans will feel home in their team's website.

The new visitors will be lost, they will ask what is your blog about ? Music, Movies and some articles about travelling ?

Unless you have a team of editors, in this case you can add more than one niche in your site.
